The project aims to enhance the motivation and capacity of European farmers to understand and adopt digitalisation as a driver of sustainable and transformative change.

The overarching goal of CODECS is to strengthen collective capacity to comprehend, evaluate, and anticipate the full spectrum of benefits and costs associated with farm digitalisation. Additionally, it seeks to foster the development of digital ecosystems that maximise the net benefits of digitalisation. This will be achieved through the following specific objectives:

1. Mainstreaming the Concept of Sustainable Digitalisation
   Integrate the concept of “sustainable digitalisation” into the European Agricultural Knowledge and Innovation Systems (AKIS) and broader policy frameworks.
2. Building a Systemic, Actor-Centered Foundation
   Develop a conceptual, system-based, and actor-centered approach to support the “sustainable digitalisation” of agriculture, along with a layered cost-benefit assessment framework.
3. Understanding Contextual Impacts
   Analyse and assess how different contexts influence the costs and benefits of digitalisation by studying “digital ecosystems.”
4. Providing Comprehensive Data
   Generate data on the costs and benefits of digitalisation across diverse European farming contexts by designing and implementing user-friendly assessment methodologies.
5. Facilitating Technology Adoption
   Establish demonstration sites to promote the scaling of digital technology adoption in agriculture.
6. Developing Policy Tools
   Create evidence-based and future-proof policy tools to guide sustainable digitalisation in the farming sector.
7. Raising Awareness and Driving Adoption
   Enhance awareness and encourage the uptake of digital technologies for sustainable development by creating a dedicated platform and practical assessment tools.
