In late May 2025, our partner ANAMOB brought together farmers and experts in Calarasi, Romania, for an exciting demonstration event as part of the QuantiFarm project. Under the Test Case titled “Applying Technology in Arable Farming,” the event showcased how cutting-edge digital tools are transforming wheat farming—helping farmers monitor, plan, and manage their crops with greater ease and precision.
Feedback was very positive, with participants rating the event from good to very good. They praised the relevant content, the interactive format, and the chance to engage directly with experts and fellow farmers. Several attendees suggested adding a future session on how these digital tools adapt to changing legislation and subsidy programs—information that would help build long-term confidence in using the technology. Over 20 participants attended, including wheat farmers, agricultural advisors, local officials, and ANAMOB representatives, all eager to explore how new technologies can help them farm smarter, not harder.
Attendees had the opportunity to get hands-on with the QuantiFarm Toolkit, which combines smart devices such as Soil IoT sensors, sensors integrated into farm equipment, weather stations, and Farm Management Information Systems (FMIS). These tools provide real-time data on soil conditions, weather, and machinery, enabling farmers to make more informed decisions and manage their operations more effectively.
The event began with presentations introducing the QuantiFarm tools, followed by live demonstrations and open discussions. Participants appreciated the user-friendly visual interfaces and valued seeing how real-time data can support daily farming decisions. Following the indoor session, everyone visited a local wheat farm and toured an agricultural machinery park. Seeing the technology in action, both on the farm and with the machinery, helped clarify how these digital solutions can be applied practically, sparking valuable on-site conversations.
Overall, the event highlighted the growing enthusiasm among Romanian farmers for digital solutions that not only boost productivity but also promote more sustainable and resilient farming practices.
