On 2 June 2025, our partner the Agrarian Technological Institute of Castile and León (ITACyL) in Valladolid, became a hub of agricultural innovation, hosting a lively and insightful demonstration as part of the QuantiFarm test case in Spain. The successful event brought together over 80 farmers, advisors, and stakeholders from the region to discover the latest features of one of the project’s Digital Agriculture Technology Solutions (DATSs), the Sativum tool, and to explore the QuantiFarm Toolkit.
In addition, farm advisors from ANAMOB, responsible for the QuantiFarm test case in Romania, which focuses on testing an FMIS application for wheat in the Steppe region, also participated in the event. Their involvement aimed to foster knowledge exchange and share good practices across test cases and demo events, reinforcing the project’s collaborative and cross-border approach.
Attendees had the chance to see Sativum’s field zoning module in action—a key feature that makes Variable Rate Application (VRA) possible. Through live demos and interactive sessions, participants learned how the tool helps optimise the use of inputs like water and fertiliser based on the specific needs of each part of a field. This not only improves efficiency but also supports more sustainable farming. A field visit to a nearby pilot farm after the main event gave everyone a chance to see real VRA maps being used on the ground—with clear benefits for both productivity and resource management.
Local farmers who already use Sativum shared their experiences, offering valuable insights into how digital tools are helping them make better decisions every day. Their stories highlighted the practical benefits of DATSs—from saving time and money to making farming more environmentally friendly—encouraging others to consider digital solutions for their own operations.
The event also gave participants a closer look at the QuantiFarm Toolkit—a set of easy-to-use tools that help evaluate the cost, value, and environmental impact of digital farming solutions. As a major result of the QuantiFarm project, the Toolkit is designed to support informed decisions across the entire farming value chain.
Beyond technology, the event created a great space for networking and knowledge exchange, bringing together farmers, advisors, and innovators. These conversations are key to building trust, sharing expertise, and supporting the wider adoption of digital practices in agriculture.
This Spanish demo event highlighted QuantiFarm’s ongoing commitment to making digital farming practical, effective, and accessible for all. As our work continues across Europe, events like this ensure that the experiences and needs of farmers remain central to shaping the future of agriculture.
