On 30 May 2025, our partner ANAMOB organised a dynamic demonstration event near Tulcea, Romania, as part of the QuantiFarm project and its Test Case “Applying Technology in Livestock Farming”. The event brought together farmers, advisors, policymakers, and tech experts to explore how innovative digital solutions can enhance the daily management of dairy cows—making livestock farming smarter, more efficient, and future-ready.
Participants were introduced to the QuantiFarm Toolkit, with a spotlight on digital technologies designed for dairy farms—particularly tools for monitoring and evaluating nutrition through Farm Management Information Systems (FMIS). These technologies aim to help farmers make smarter, data-driven decisions.
A total of 21 participants attended, including Test Case leaders, dairy farmers, agricultural advisors, technology providers, local authorities, and veterinary experts. The group also included representatives from academia and policymaking. This mix created a dynamic and collaborative environment, encouraging open discussions on real-life applications of digital tools.
The event was held in a local guesthouse and included a structured programme: a presentation, followed by interactive discussions and a Q&A session. Although sanitary restrictions prevented a visit to a working farm, participants had the chance to explore the toolkit’s features and share their insights.
Feedback was very positive. Participants found the content highly relevant and the event well organised. Several farmers said they were considering trying out the technologies on their own farms, while advisors stressed the importance of offering training to help farmers get started with digital tools. Attendees also shared useful suggestions for future events:
🔹Include live demonstrations or farm visits, if possible, to better understand how the tools work in real-life settings.
🔹Improve the Cost-Benefit Calculator by making it more customisable for accurate, farm-specific analysis.
🔹Enhance the Recommendation Tool to include available subsidy information and clearer benefits.
🔹Connect tools with existing farm software to reduce manual work and improve efficiency.
🔹Add more technical and economic references to support informed decisions.
Despite the limitations, participants said they valued the event and encouraged the organisation of similar demos across Romania. The exchange of ideas was highly appreciated and will contribute to refining the QuantiFarm tools for broader use in the future.
