During the third QuantiFarm meeting, which took place in Athens in June 2023, we had the opportunity to conduct an interview in the form of a Q&A session with the Project Coordinator, Nikolaos Marianos from GAIA EPICHEIREIN. Throughout the discussion, Nikolaos Marianos shared his insights into the project’s missions and goals, emphasizing the urgent need to integrate Digital Agricultural Tools (DATs) into contemporary agriculture. He also mentioned the foreseeable potential and benefits that these tools could bring to the sector. However, as he revealed, there is scant evidence on how DATs could be adopted by farmers, resulting in a slowdown of the adoption process.
QuantiFarm’s primary goal, which is to assess DATs under real-life conditions, aims to provide tangible evidence of how Digital Agricultural Solutions can genuinely impact sustainability—economic, environmental, and social. Naturally, achieving this goal necessitates effective and impactful collaboration among the diverse group of 32 partners from across Europe. This is precisely where GAIA EPICHEIREN steps in, functioning as a link among them, with the aim of ensuring that each partner organisation contributes its unique insights to the project!
Project partners are not only people coming from 20 different countries, but also from various sectors; Each of them speaks their own language, either national or sectoral. We have to make sure that they understand each other's language and that they can collaborate towards QuantiFarm's goals.
