Short description
In this TC an app – a Farm Advisory Tool for Nutrients (SATIVUM)- that helps farmers and advisors to adjust the fertiliser application with respect crop nutrients needs will be applied in order to avoid overuse of fertilisers with negative economical and environmental impact. The tool provides a guided decision-making procedure to couple the expected yield (and nutrients needs), with soil, manure and water information, allowing the user to choose the best fertiliser and rate. It will support farmers in their administrative decision-making processes, for farm profitability and environmental sustainability. At the same time, it will provide a reliable on-farm landing spot for digital solution developers (including satellite-based solutions) and service providers.

Major goals
This tool of the TC is laying the foundations of a comprehensive digital ecosystem for sustainable farm and land management. It also focuses on improving the nutrient management and advice based on new technologies providing guidelines to the farmers and advisors that might not have a strong background in soil science and crop nutrition. Further, it aims to generate economic benefits for farmers by both increasing their revenues and reducing their costs. Environmental gains are also part of the aim as improving nutrient management, for instance, will reduce the risk of nitrogen leaching, while preserving soil quality and productivity.
